Computer Batteries

With UPS(Batteries),Computers work in the absence of electricity. In Computers also there are some batteries which are explained as follows:

There are 3 types of computer batteries. They are

Backup Battery
Bridge Battery
Main Battery

CMOS Battery is being called as Backup Battery.Whatever settings are made by the users in PC,they are kept alive by this battery only. When electricity is not there, then also the user settings are saved and maintained by this battery.

Daily Date and Time are maintained and updated in this battery. So whenever these information are being reported to PC, user may or may not be present(be active) in PC.

Bridge battery is present in Laptops.Instead of main battery, bridge battery is being used in PCs.By using this battery, the main battery can be kept in control.

Main Battery is also being used in Laptops. When laptops are not operated with main plug, then main battery gives power supply to laptops.

The inside types of these batteries can be either Li-ion,NiCad,Li-Polymer,NiMH and SLA etc..

First type is Li-Ion is Lithium Ion Battery. These batteries need a protector circuit and are expensive.

NiCad denotes Nickel Cadmium type of batteries. These batteries are appropriate for computers as it can provide power for long duration of time. They work for long time(no repairs and quick break down) and cost are suiting to user's budget.

NiMH denotes Nickel Metal Hydride batteries. These batteries are a step ahead of NiCad batteries. The cycle life of NiMH is less than that of NiCad.These batteries gives less current load.

SLA denotes Sealed Lead Acid battery.Whenever more power requirement is there, then these batteries can be used. They are heavy weighted batteries.

Last type Li-Polymer denotes Lithium Polymer batteries. They are less expensive compared to Li-Ion batteries.
